The History of LGBTWeddings.com
Kimberly Vaughan, founder of LGBTweddings.com, created the website domain in Mariposa, California.
Kimberly has been a member of the wedding industry for fifteen years and has been a supporter of equality for a lifetime.
The initial mission was clear: create educational opportunities for wedding professionals to best serve the LGBT community and create a program to teach same-sex couples how to plan a wedding.
To create a site that served both the industry and same-sex couples required a lot of discussion and planning. Kimberly held focus groups, met with industry leaders, couples, and associations to better understand the needs of wedding professionals and couples to assess what needs could be met.
The result of these discussions created a more refined vision: create a safe, fun, harmonious place where same-sex couples could plan the perfect day with qualified, friendly, enthusiastic providers who believe in equality. The site would support the initial concept of educating industry professionals and couples, while also creating a platform where the two could meet and connect.
Website development began in 2015 to create a website for same-sex couples and wedding professionals and realize the vision of LGBTWeddings.com.
The mission: create a bridge between the wedding industry and the LGBT community. The website launched August, 2015.
Kimberly and her team hit the highway and headed to major US cities across the nation, including New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Las Vegas, Houston, and Miami, and beyond to build awareness of the site and its mission. She spent the next year hosting and attending events, seminars, panel discussions, expos, bridal shows, and has spoken at several industry association events to educate wedding professonals and couples, promoting the bridge between the wedding industry and the LGBT community.
September, 2016, LGBT Weddings, Inc. was formed as a corporation, under the laws of the State of California.
"I finally feel like I can contribute in some measure on the path to equality. We dedicate this site to the Community it serves and the Wedding Professionals who see a beautiful vision of our Industry that includes equality, fairness, and many expressions of love! At LGBTWeddings.com we celebrate every day with a wedding!"
