“Jess and I actually first started talking on Tinder (lol, we’re a “Tinder success story”!)
Our first date consisted of a sushi dinner, watching the Mr. Rogers documentary, and the most memorable lightning show either of us has seen! We call that the literal first spark of our relationship!
We’ve been inseparable ever since.
We chose to elope within just a couple of months being engaged. We had already been living together for a few years and figured there was no reason to really draw out our engagement. So, with that said, we had already planned a trip out to Colorado for an event prior to Covid that had been rescheduled. And we thought…well let’s kill two birds with one stone!
We both knew we wanted a non-traditional wedding from the get-go…and I had stumbled upon Simply Eloped when I first started doing research about non-traditional weddings/elopements. It was exactly what we were looking for!
An extra plus was not having to deal with family and friends and the nuances of who to invite and who would get upset if you didn’t.
Jess and I chose to only have the two of us present during our ceremony (plus the officiant, photographer, and videographer). This was actually better than we could of hoped. We got to actually spend time with each other on our wedding day! We got to solely focus on ourselves and our special day without having to worry about anyone else. (We are glad to have chosen a photographer and videography to have captured the day for us, that way we can share that with our friends and family at a later time when we have our celebration!)
We chose Garden of the Gods for a few reasons. We knew we wanted it to be outdoors. From pictures, we loved the contrast of the reddish/orange terrain against the dark green trees around the area. It was absolutely magical!”
