How We Met
We have known each other since the third grade and lived down the street from each other for most of our lives. We weren't fans of each other in High School and hung out with two totally different crowds. Ten years later we were all grown up and reconnected on FaceBook. It's been history since then! It's funny how things work out.
Tell Us About The Proposal
I was actually asleep and we had friends staying over, who were in on Jamee's surprise. Jamee walked in with a breakfast tray and woke me up. Half asleep, I thanked her for the fruit and mimosa. As I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, I soon noticed one photo, then another, then another placed in a glass on my breakfast tray.
They ranged from when we were dating up until the present. The last photo had stick figure ladies with rainbow dresses on and it said "Just married". It took another two minutes for the light bulb to come on!!! Jamee proceeded to get down on one knee and I think I went deaf for a little while, but I did hear, "I love you and want to grow old with you."
I was in shock and just kept saying "SHUT UP" and slapped her arm (several times) in disbelief. I did say yes somewhere in the puddle of tears.
Tell us about your wedding planning
We were actually married in California before the national ruling and before we planned our wedding. We thought it was unfortunate to have to go through such great lengths but when you love someone, you do what you have to do. We believe the national ruling is wonderful. Everyone should be able to love and marry who the heart leads them to regardless of sexual orientation, race, or religion.
