I teamed up with Chateau Polonez and Elizabeth Abshire Events and Design to bring together an idea I'd had for awhile… A destination wedding at home. I'm meeting an increasing number of couples that wanted to plan a destination wedding, but either couldn’t afford a wedding abroad, or there were concerns about family members being able to attend due to health and other concerns. So with that in mind, I thought it would be a fun challenge to show how with the right team, couples can still get that destination wedding experience without the travel worries! I also wanted the shoot to be centered around a male couple. Men are typically left out of all things wedding, but with SCOTUS decision on marriage equality last year, it hasn't gotten much better. Male couples are extremely under-represented. So I really wanted to do something grooms could get inspired by and excited about. ?
In our search for a couple, I met Michael and Julius, who made the shoot extra special with their fun, easy going, sweet personalities. The theme is European chateau destination wedding which is spot on Chateau Polonez. In fact, the venue was designed and built with that intention. Imagine the kind of wedding you might see at a country home in southern France or a chateau in Italy. It would be full of food, wine and laughter. Easy-going elegance would be the order of the day. Houston is pretty well known for it's burlap and lace, and mason jar and cowboy boot weddings, but it turns out, you can escape to Europe without leaving the city limits! Elizabeth Abshire Events and Design began pulling my ideas together to nail down a color scheme and cohesive vision.
She first met with Lauren from Vintage Indulgence to pick out furniture fit for our kings. Blue vintage wing back chairs and dark wood table where elegantly masculine and well balance with the light grey dining chairs. House of Hough provided blue matte satin napkins and glass chargers with silver beading. Off-white ruffled muslin table runners added softness to the tablescape. The eye-catching centerpiece created by Holly at Flower Vibes overflowed with pale blue delphinium, eucalyptus, lavender, pastel pink snapdragons, ivy, sage and rosemary. The arrangement was accented by the draping florals on the outdoor fireplace mantel and the fragrance was so refreshing and romantic. ?
The joyful calligraphy of Lily and Rose Studio graced simple navy blue invitations accented with powder blue envelopes. The entire stationary suite included invitation, rsvp card, envelopes, menu cards and place cards. Sinfully Sweet designed a three tiered, light pink ruffle cake with rose details that complimented the softer details like the table runners and pink floral touches.
Julius wore an Adolfo blazer with a small plaid pattern complimented by Michael's navy blue Ben Sherman blazer. Silver groom cufflinks and Beyond Creations bow ties added another level of personality. Hayley and Company primped our couple and styled our "wedding guests" with flawless summer makeup and hairstyling.
