The theme described was a jewel-toned, edgy, rock-star wedding. We wanted to do something other than the traditional wedding dress and suit so we looked in the prom section of the wedding store, and most of the "suit" was purchased from Express and Buckle. We requested a faux-hawk for one of our lovely brides and asked that the makeup be a little darker and edgier than the normal bride might request. The florist didn't get much direction other than the colors and theme, but she did an amazing job. The seating area was all purchased from World Market to give a relaxed, inviting, but luxe look.
Chapel in the Hollow is a brand new venue located in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, and we set up several shoots to gain photos to use for advertising. Because we want to be known as a venue who is friendly to all types of love, we decided to create a shoot that would allow us to showcase that.
Our models were Haley and Sydney Heacock. We actually first approached a male model that we had worked with in the past. He recently came out and was very interested, but we couldn't get the timing to work out for him and his boyfriend. We also approached another couple who we planned the shoot around, but they had to cancel last minute because of a work conflict.
I hope couples will see the fun, details, and uniqueness of this shoot. I hope they will be reinforced in the belief that it's okay to be yourself no matter who that is. And, I hope they will see that a wedding designed around the personality of the couple can be a much more enriching experience by letting them choose the traditions and details that mean something to them personally.
