Our Love Story

Tell us about your wedding!

Our wedding day was magical. We have been together for 18 years and wanted to finally get married. The color theme was Maroon & Grey. The best part was the Guitarist, Bialek’s Music playing while I entered the walkway to marry my husband

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

We chose white chairs and added yellow flowers on every other chair.  We decorated seven high-top tables with flowers and spread them 6 feet apart for social distancing between the two bars.

What were the florals like at your wedding?

We put a lot of thought into our flowers and wanted to be sure that everyone had something beautiful on our wedding day:
Maid of Honor – Yellow and white flowers, white hydrangea, roses, yellow snaps, freesia, etc hand-tied with off white ribbon
Groommaids – Nosegays to match Maid of honor
Groom -Beige ball, billy ball, and white waxflower w/ red weeping
Best Man- 2 billy ball wax flower w/red weeping
Groomsmen-  2 billy ball wax flowers w/ red weeping
Father- 2 billy ball wax flower w/ red weeping
Mother of the Groom- Nosegay same as Groomsmaids, just a little smaller
Let’s talk fashion.
I wore a grey suit with a black & grey bow tie.  Engraved in the jacket was, “finally married.”  My partner wore a maroon suit with a black tie and engraved in his jacket was “K Fly”  Kris was a swimmer in college at Florida State and the butterfly was his best swimming stroke so he is known as K Fly by his teammates and fans.

How did you meet?

We met actually at a Gay bar in Tallahassee, Florida called Brother’s Night Club.  It was the only Gay bar in our town. We hit it off immediately!  It was supposed to be a date that ended in a long term relationship and now 18 years later, with our first house and married 🙂 I am the happiest person alive!

What was the most special moment of your wedding day?

Marrying my partner and being able to share it with friends and family during Covid-19 was the most important thing to us both and we were just so happy to be with people we love on the most important day of our lives together.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Absolutely make sure that even if you plan 1 or 2 years in advance that you always follow up with the florist, Cater, DJ etc.  I cannot tell you how many times we followed up and still had small bumps in the road with vendors.  Remember, it is your special day, and if something does not go as planned that no one else will know the difference if it was supposed to be that way or not. Breathe, and relax as it is your day and nothing can mess it up.  A happy wedding day to all!!!!
