Emily and Emily. The fact that both of their names are Emily should have been my first sign that this couple and their wedding story would be anything less than unique. When I first met this sweet duo for coffee, we just sort of CLICKED. I felt like I had known them forever which made wedding talk that much more fun. As I sat there and watched how they interacted with one another, I knew this would be a beautiful couple to photograph. I immediately felt comfortable around them and saw that they were with each other. They already seemed as though they had been married for years. Emily A. – “We met officially when we both started working for the same police department in 2014. Although, we had gone to the same school for 4 years before that and had been unofficially introduced once before, we somehow never really knew each other until then.”I loved their proposal story! Emily A. – “Kind of a long story, but the first time Emily (Rachel) and I (Emily Anne) worked together, we were working the midnight shift on October 20th, 2014. At around 3am she told me to come outside with her. We stood outside under the most beautiful sky full of stars. She told me that the sky was the best part about working midnights. I think this was the first time we both felt that spark. Fast forward to July 30th 2015. Emily (Rachel) planned a day downtown and told me we were going to the Adler Planetarium. When we got there, we looked around for a while and then she told me she bought tickets to see a show about the night sky. After the show was over and everyone was leaving, the lights turned back off and our song started playing. At this point I was very confused and a little scared that we were going to get locked in the theatre hahaha. Then a clock came up on the big screen and time rewound back to October 20th and the exact same night sky we stood under was projected across the whole theatre. Emily Rachel got down on one knee and asked me to be her wife. Seriously, such an amazing day.” I always ask my couples what the most important aspect is when planning out their wedding. Emily and Emily’s was important on so many personal levels. “Being a same-sex couple, we really wanted to make sure all of our vendors were comfortable being involved in a same-sex wedding. That was our number one priority. The first thing we looked at and booked was the venue. Once we had that booked, we immediately started researching photographers. At the end of the day, all that we will have left to look back on is the pictures! All of the vendors we chose were amazing and made the day perfect.”This day was such a privilege to be a part of and I am so honored to call these beauties my friends.
